Colorado to Visit the Wichita Wild for the First Time on Saturday Night!
Saturday's Wichita Wild football game at Hartman Arena will be an opportunity for fans to see a division rival who has not played in town before. The Colorado Ice (0-2) and Wild will kick things off at 7:05 PM on Saturday. The Wild (1-1) and Ice are both expected to compete for playoffs berths.
The Wild enter the game coming off their first loss of the season in a 43-34 defeat by Sioux Falls. The Wild had been on a three-game win streak vs. Central Division opponents. Wild wide receiver Clinton Solomon is currently tied for second in the league in receptions with 17 while running back Darius Fudge leads the league in rushing touchdowns with five.
The Wild defense showed some signs of dominance vs. the Storm last week allowing only 36 rushing yards on 19 attempts. Defensive back Donta Moore leads the team with 11 tackles. All-IFL linebacker Lamont Reid has added nine tackles.
The Ice enter the game coming off a bye week, and are hungry for a win after losing to the Billings Outlaws 47-39 on March 5. Billings jumped out to an early 19-0 lead, but running back Bobby Purify sparked a comeback scoring three straight touchdowns for the Ice. Down by 16 going into the 4th quarter, the Ice made a late surge scoring 22 or their 39 points in the 4th, but the Outlaws were too much offensively and left victorious.
Purify is 6th in the IFL in rushing yards with 95. He has also added four rushing touchdowns, which is tied for 4th in the league.
The Ice are led in tackles by defensive back Idly Etienne, who has recorded 15.5 tackles this season. On the defensive line, Malachi McGee leads the Ice in sacks with 1.5. The Ice are allowing an average of 122 rushing yards per game and 47.5 points per game.
