Wild Host Omaha Beef in Must Win Game Tomorrow Night!
The Wichita Wild (5-6) of the Indoor Football League (IFL) will play host this Saturday to the Omaha Beef (8-2) in a Central Division clash with huge playoff implications. The two teams previously met for the Wild's season opener in which the Beef prevailed 41-36 in Omaha. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 PM at Hartman Arena, with doors opening at 6:00 PM.
The Wild currently hold a one game lead over the Sioux Falls Storm for the third and final playoff spot in the division, while the Beef are currently riding a 7-game win streak. In the previous meeting between these two Central Division rivals, big plays were the name of the game for the offense of the Wild.
Quarterback Derek Rasmussen was able to connect with Clinton Solomon for three touchdown passes over 30 yards, including a 39-yard touchdown pass to start the game. Running back Darius Fudge also managed two rushing touchdowns for Wichita. Fudge is currently the IFL?s leading rusher with 676 rushing yards.
On defense, the Wild must figure out a way to contain the scrambling ability of Omaha quarterback James McNear. Much of this responsibility will fall on the shoulders of defensive linemen Justin Montgomery and Teon Wilson. Montgomery leads the Wild with five sacks and nine tackles for loss on the season.
McNear has been most deadly this season in the red zone, where he has ran for 11 rushing touchdowns this season. However, McNear has shown this season he is more than just a scrambling quarterback throwing for 1,552 yards and 28 touchdown passes.
The Wild will play all their remaining regular season games at home. This includes a June 27th matchup with the RiverCity Rage and a July 2nd game with the Alaska Wild. Tickets for all home games are available at the Hartman Arena Box Office, by phone at 316-927-3999, stage1tickets.com and all Stage 1 Ticket Outlets.
